“Smart home technology has made consumers more reliant on their mobile devices to manage their homes,” said Scott Harkins, vice president and general manager of Connected Home, Honeywell Home and Building Technologies. “The addition of HomeKit support to the Lyric Controller improves the connected home experience for consumers, and provides new opportunities for dealers. Dealers can leverage the Apple ecosystem of HomeKit partners to expand their connected home offerings and deliver a robust interface to manage the home.”
The home security system can be purchased on Amazon for $288 in the United States and is available at select other resellers around the world.
Product description. Physically, the Lyric touchscreen looks very clean and is equipped with an integrated camera for snapshots based on customizable system operations. Yes, you can trigger a photo to be taken upon disarm! These can be uploaded to Total Connect and generate email/text alerts as well. Unlike its predecessors, the Lyric Controller now has built-in WIFI and Z-Wave modules. This means that the system is capable of connecting to your WIFI network and building a local Z-Wave mesh network, right out of the box! The only communication module that requires a separate purchase is a cellular communicator.

Pretty sure he is referring to how this company likes to throw things at the wall until something sticks. This particular product is going to fail, and they’re going to release another and another until they get it right. And right now, this one isn’t even close.
The free software update, which is available to both current and future Lyric Controller consumers, allows even more consumers the opportunity to connect the Lyric security system without interrupting their current connected home platform of choice. HomeKit provides an easy way to control your home’s lights, doors, thermostats and more from your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch® using the Apple Home app or Siri.

I’ve been looking at this system, waiting for home kit support, for a couple of months now. Yes you can have it professionally installed and monitored, but it also makes for a great DIY system. It doesn’t necessarily require external monitoring and the associated fees if you don’t want them. I plan to go there DIY route. Hopefully I’ll email again in a couple of months with a happy update.
In addition, the Lyric Controller integration with HomeKit allows the system to respond to voice commands based on personalized presets and automate scenes for energy saving, comfort and security. Lyric Controller users can access their security systems using native authentication on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, including Touch ID and Face ID on iPhone X.

Honeywell has thousands of products and are in multiple industries from health and safety, consumer electronics, aero space, EMS technologies etc. I don’t doubt they do well in many areas, I for one would not buy a Honeywell Product. When you release thousands of different products every year how well do you think those products will be? They don’t concentrate on a particular market, area or product offering. You can’t be everything to everyone. I work directly with Honeywell on the health and safety side and I can tell you their CS is some of the worst in the industry. Maybe the consumer division is better but I would rather spend my money on a company who specializes In one area.
The Honeywell Lyric Controller, with its 7-inch touchscreen and built-in camera, serves as the central hub for arming and disarming the system. If a Lyric sensor, such as a door/window or motion detector, detects an unusual situation, the controller will provide visual and audible notification. With pro-monitored security service, the central station can quickly contact first responders. In addition, through HomeKit other local actions can also be triggered, such as lighting, locks and temperature controls.

Realistically there are a lot of companies out there that have their hands in all kinds of different things, like GE, or Samsung, or Mitsubishi, or etc. And while there are certainly examples of this or that not being good, is it really to a meaningfully larger degree compared to things from various other companies that are somewhat more focused (given that there are good ones like that out there, and some not so good ones as well even when it comes to those more focused ones).
The Lyric Controller Home Security System is the latest in a line of reliable Honeywell smart home solutions with the power of connected to HomeKit. Honeywell’s Lyric T-Series and Lyric Round thermostats also work with HomeKit. For more information on the Lyric Controller Home Security System, please visit.
Customer review on Amazon:
Recommended as a DIY Security System. The Lyric controller is in my opinion Honeywell’s greatest alarm and home automation control panel. I purchased this system for my home to replace and older Lynx touch system. I had a local installer come out and quote me on this system but with the cost of the system, installation and monitoring fees it was in excess of $40 per month and 150 per hour. I did some browsing around and came across geoarm.com on youtube and saw all of their how to videos to install the panel and it looked like a breeze. I decided to go with them for monitoring which is a no contract $20 per month rate and found out they can actually program the whole lyric security system on their end. This panel is so good because it put to rest my fears of rf jamming because all of the six series sensors are encrypted. This system is 5 star in my book!
